Designed by the prestigious Galician architect Alexandre Mouriño, the AM2 collection was created to recover the public and recreational space in one of the most attractive landscaped areas of Vilagarcía de Arousa. This set, developed and manufactured by SETGA, was conceived with the aim of creating warmer and more sustainable urban environments through the use of 100% natural and circular materials such as wood from certified forests.
ORIGIN AND EVOLUTION
The AM2 series illustrates an exercise in truthful eco-design based on the honesty of materials as the regenerating axis of urban space. Natural wood gives the ensemble a friendly appearance and an accomplice of time, progressively evolving its appearance.
STRUCTURE AND MATERIALS
The AM2 set has been manufactured with a treated surface of Iroko wood on the fronts and AISI316 stainless steel on the sides. The careful development of its interior structure and meetings, hides all its fastening mechanisms, providing a clean view, 100% free of screws. Its APS® LED optical module is made of anodised aluminium and tempered glass with all its opto-electronic systems pressurised with argon gas, giving the luminaire an IP68 watertightness level capable of withstanding highly aggressive marine atmospheres.
The design strategy inherent in the AM2 series is characterised by the combination of highly sustainable materials. Compared to die-cast aluminium, the high purity of Al 5754 aluminium facilitates its reuse by other industries in the future. The 100% natural origin of the glass makes this material fully recyclable and minimises the environmental impact of its transformation process. With Europe’s first solar-powered glass processing line, the carbon footprint of this series has been substantially reduced. Finally, following the latest revision of ISO 14001, and the implementation of the sustainability master plan, SETGA has promoted the design of a long-term recycling system for each component of the AM2 series.
